UN. DEUX. TROIS. nos identités franco-canadiennes
This ONFR+ documentary examines French-Canadian identity outside Quebec today, through the prism of the monumental theatrical adventure UN. DEUX. TROIS. by playwright, director and actor Mani Soleymanlou. The show features 36 French-speaking actors from several Canadian provinces, whom we were lucky enough to follow on stage and backstage in Ottawa, Sudbury, and Toronto.
Through the personal accounts of the director and six of the actors, the documentary sheds intimate light on the feelings, frustrations and aspirations of Franco-Ontarians. It lifts the veil on their wish to have access to an inclusive French language, without judgment or stereotypes, as well as to a multiple Francophone identity that confronts, without taboo, the ambiguity of its colonial heritage.
